"The 2018 Nuit des images aims to reflect the changing world with all that it implies for tensions, crises and tragedies. It will, then, provide a sounding board for the emotions and concerns provoked by these changes, whatever they may be and wherever they occur. During its flagship event, the Musée de l’Elysée will give the floor to artists and specialists who explore visual representations to define and redefine along with all of us the humanitarian principles that will shape tomorrow’s world. I would like to thank our faithful partners Parmigiani Fleurier, UBS, Retraites Populaires and the City of Lausanne without whom the Nuit des images could not happen, and I wish you all a very good “Nuit”!"
Tatyana Franck, director of the Musée de l'Elysée
"The 2018 Nuit des images invites you to appraise photography through the prism of three different programs: “Socially Aware”, “Literary”, and “Surprising”. Come and discover the various perspectives of artists and humanitarian professionals on humanitarian principles, but also tell us what you think of the subject and which experiences you’d like to share! Visit our gardens on the lookout for books, albums by Jean Dubuffet, pages of books in the company of Sun Yanchu, and readings – at times electric – for both children and adults. And last but not least, let yourself be surprised in a grotto designed by Rachel Rom or in the middle of a cloud of smoke! During the Nuit, you will also find out the names of the eight nominees for the third edition of the Prix Elysée, discover the work of the winner of the second edition of the Prix Elysée, and watch a tribute to Joseph Koudelka before enjoying a musical moment…"
Emilie Schmutz, coordinator of the Nuit des images
The Musée de l’Elysée would like to thank all the artists and curators whose projects light up the Nuit des images, as well as all the volunteers and the team who, once again, have joined forces to make this event a success.
